Dr NRK Pillai, Senior journalist, writer, author and philanthropist, was felicitated in Dubai recently on his contribution to promoting legal recruitment and deployment of Indian talent in the Gulf, particularly the UAE and Saudi Arabia, through his publication Assignments Abroad Times.
Assignments Abroad Times, a twice a week newspaper dedicated to development news and views, mainly from the UAE and other Gulf countries, and for promoting legal recruitment and deployment of qualified Indian professionals, is celebrating its 30 years of publication this year.
Dr NRK Pillai is the founding Chief Editor and Managing Director of Assignments Abroad Times.
The publication, established in 1993, has been instrumental in deploying more than 100,000 Indian professionals, including engineers, high skilled technicians, managerial professionals and skilled and unskilled workforce in the UAE, thus helping the UAE to legally source talent for its economic growth.
The newspaper is the most sought after publication by the licensed recruiting agents to advertise job vacancies in the UAE and elsewhere in the Gulf. The publication has more credibility, reputation, wider reach and response than the market leaders as only licensed recruiting agents are allowed to advertise in the paper to safeguard the candidates from cheating by spurious recruiting agents.
“It is my mission to strengthen the UAE-India relations in the fields of culture, trade, industry, investments and media through the medium of Assignments Abroad Times, which has been covering all positive news and developments in the UAE and other Gulf countries,” he said in reply to his felicitation organised in Dubai last week.
Dr Pillai is a proponent of fair practices and objective reporting, corporate good governance and is a visiting lecturer at media and marketing schools in India and speaker at seminars.
He is currently authoring a book ‘MANPOWER The Widening Deployment Scope in the New Age, which will be published by New Age Publications, Mumbai, India.
Dr Pillai is also the producer of a Malayalam feature film Edavapathi (Monsoon), directed by legendary film director Lenin Rajendran, to promote culture and art.
He is now planning to make the UAE his second home and pursue his academic engagement, train professionals in media and marketing management as well as publishing his journal to promote legal deployment of Indian talents in the UAE.
